Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover parent coaching/intensives?

Insurance does not cover these services. However, I never want finances to be a barrier to helping give your child a voice and equipping you to confidently help your child. Message me and I can hopefully help find scholarships for parent coaching/intensives.

Do you accept our insurance for speech therapy?

Homefront Speech accepts some Medicaid plans and private pay. I also accept the ESA+ grant and have a list of scholarships/grants listed under “Get Started”.

While we are currently out-of-network with insurance plans, we offer complimentary Superbills upon request for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement depending on your plan.

Many families do not wish to use their insurance due to high deductibles, desiring specialized care or the convenience of home style therapy.

This also allows me to be able to focus on your care and remain completely ethical in your diagnosis, write reports in a neurodiversity affirming manner and focus on what you need instead of what insurance needs.

Be sure to call your insurance and ask what their out-of-network benefits are and if any pre-authorizations/pre-approvals are required before booking an appointment.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Homefront Speech accepts debit, credit and HSA/FSA cards on our secure online payment system.

How much is speech therapy?

Check out “Get Started” to learn about pricing and grants.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours advance notice for cancellations.  Late cancellations or forgotten appointments will be billed at the full cost of the session.  We completely understand that children wake up sick occasionally or there are family emergencies, and one late cancel is permitted for every 3 month period. Sessions are typically the same day, time and place every week to help parents remember sessions and avoid undue charges.

Can you see my child for speech therapy at their daycare or preschool?

Absolutely! Most daycares or preschools allow therapist’s to come in during the day and often even have a quiet room available for this exact purpose. You would just need to check with your individual childcare facility. I provide facilities with my state childcare facility approved background check if they request one.

Do you treat all speech/language and feeding difficulties?

I have worked with hundreds of children in the areas of articulation, language, late talkers, speech sound disorders, phonological disorders, and autism to name a few.

If you are looking for a specialist in the areas of feeding, tongue tie, voice or lisps, I would recommend finding another therapist who specializes in these areas to receive the best possible care.

In addition, I stand by neurodiversity affirming care and do not write goals to “increase eye contact”, “reduce echolalia” or similar “social skills” goals. I would recommend another provider if you desire these goals if you have an Autistic child.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

The answer to this varies significantly from family to family. Some children may only need a few sessions to learn strategies they can implement at home if they have a borderline delay. Other children may need ongoing care if they face significant communication difficulties. In addition, the commitment to completing weekly “homework” also varies family to family and will often impact the length of therapy.

How often will therapy take place?

Speech therapy sessions will take place 1-2 times per week depending on your needs and availability.

How long are therapy sessions?

I offer 30 minute, 45 minute or 1 hour long sessions

Do I need a referral from my child’s doctor?

If your child is on Medicaid a prescription is required prior to the evaluation. For private pay a doctor’s prescription is likely required after the evaluation if you wish to submit a superbill to your insurance.
